Cala’n Bosch (Cala en Bosch) is a large resort on the far south western point of Menorca and built around an attractive marina. Lined with a plethora of restaurants, it a great place to dine out in the evening with something for everyone.
Cala’n Bosch (Cala en Bosch) is a very popular resort with holidaymakers from Spain and the UK, but it is also a favourite for many families all over Europe. The marina is lined with luxury motor boats and framed by a plethora of restaurants catering for all palates. Strolling around the marina’s edge you’ll also encounter craft market stalls, street artists, amusement arcades, gift shops and musical entertainment. All in all, it’s easy to see why it’s a remained a favourite resort for many families over the years.
The resort is as far away as you can get from Mahon airport, but due to the relative small size of Menorca, this is still only a 40 – 50 minute transfer from the airport by coach or car and should not dissuade you from a holiday here. It’s also just 8km south of the old town of Ciutadella which makes day trips to the old capital easily achieved with regular bus journeys from the resort and an even quicker trip by hire car. There are 2, much smaller resorts that neighbour Cala’n Bosch – Son Xoriguer and Cap D’Artrutx. Both of these have something to offer the holidaymaker and a stay here doesn’t rule out dining out in Cala’n Bosch – as long as a walk of 20 – 30 minutes or so is something you’d be happy with. Accommodation in and around Cala’n Bosch
Cala ‘n Bosch provides a wide variety of accommodation, from hotels, aparthotels, villas and privately owned apartments. You’ll find most of the villas a little further afield from the main resort, but most still within walking distance of both beach and the marina. If a short walk to the beach is key, many of the hotels are ideally situated. One such hotel is the family favourite Princesa Playa Hotel, which along with it’s lovely pool and quality apartment style lodgings, is within a stones throw of the nearby beach of Son Xoriguer and still only 800m from the marina at Cala ‘n Bosch (and indeed Cala ‘n Bosch’s main beach). It provides a quieter stay away from the main resort, yet with easy access to a beach.
Many other the larger hotels also provide activities of there own – so look out for what’s provided prior to booking your accommodation.

The Beach at Cala’n Bosch
The beach is a medium sized bay of fine, white sand located on the south eastern edge of the resort. Its seas are incredibly clear being out here on the far edge of the island and are real joy to swim in its warm waters. If you are staying towards the more western side of the Cala’n Bosch, there are regular bus journeys throughout the resort, where you can hop on with your beach gear and be dropped off near the beach entrance. At the back of the beach there is also a beach bar where you can take away or take a little shade and enjoy something to eat.
Restaurants & Bars in Cala’n Bosch
Cala’n Bosch is one of the best resorts for eating out in Menorca. Most of the marina’s edge is lined with all manner of restaurant choice, from speciality fish restaurants, steak houses, pizza restaurants and more modern Spanish & European cuisine. There’s even from for the American influence. It’s the ease in which you can browse restaurant menu after restaurant menu, that makes finding somewhere suitable to eat so much easier – and there are a lot of dining places to choose from here.
These days, the demand for good quality food at a reasonable price has overtaken demand for fine dining and traditional Spanish cuisine in Cala’n Bosch, so these establishments have tended to move in to Ciutadella in recent times. That’s not to say a few real gems can’t still be found here though.
There are a couple of tapas bars for a lighter bite accompanied by a drink or two or for those in more of a rush, there are also takeaway options. One things for sure, dining out options are wonderfully varied, with something for everyone, no matter what your taste.
Activities in and around Cala’n Bosch
There’s lot to do in and around Cala’n Bosch. For children (and fun-seeking adults), there is an aqua-park with water slides to the rear of the resort, not far from the main road leading to into Ciutadella. There is also go-karting onsite too. In the marina itself, you can book a boat trip excursion. These are a fantastic way to see some of the more remote beaches Minorca has to offer – and especially worth doing if you haven’t hired a car. The boat trip will usually be a half day or full day and visits many coves and beaches along the southern coast. They usually stop of at one of these beaches, allowing you to disembark the boat and spend an hour relaxing on the beach – so don’t forget to take suncream, refreshments and beach wear.
Also in the marina you’ll find an amusement arcade and other facilities for kids at the bar western edge of the marina, just before you cross the bridge.
The clear crystal waters of Menorca are obviously a draw for many and watersports a popular activity. There are many activities that can be pre-booked – looked out for the little ticket huts and signs around the marina. Alternatively, Son Xoriguer has it’s own Watersports Centre located directly on the beach – where you can partake in many activities there and then, such hiring a paddle board, go sailboarding or even go scuba diving.
