Cala’n Porter

Home » Blog » Cala’n Porter

Cala’n Porter is one of the largest resorts in Menorca and located on the south coast of the island and is just a 15 minute drive from the airport. It is situated on the eastern side of a beautiful bay, with the majority of the resort set high above on the cliffs overlooking the beach and sea below.

Cala’n Porter, or to give it its alternate name, Cala en Porter, is a popular holiday resort with British and German families but also with couples too, including from France and of course Spain. In recent years it has seen a lot of improvements, for which it has received a lot of praise and recognition.

Whilst many a holiday firm may describe Cala’n Porter as a lively resort, it’s not on the level of anything you’ll find considered lively on its Balearic neighbours, and nor will it ever be. Menorca is a family and couple orientated island, never a party island, which is how it likes to position itself – giving us like-minded folk peace of mind when booking our holiday. Cala’n Porter is though one of the more suited Menorca resorts for couples and does have one of the most photographed bars in all of the Mediterranean, which we’ll look at later in this article.

The Beach at Cala ‘n Porter

The beach at Cala’n Porter is one of the best beaches on the island of Menorca for children…once you get it to it. If your accommodation is in the resort, some 200 steps will need to be descended to reach it. In this case, what goes down must come up and the return leg will test those muscles after a fun packed day on the beach. Fear not though, a charming road train, that runs frequently, not only provides an effortless return up the winding roads, but provides a fun experience for all the family.

The sands of the beach shelve very gently out into the sea and the high cliff walls protect the beach from many a sea breeze. Cala’n Porter’s beach itself is very large with room for everyone as it extends back some distance before it reaches an area of wetland and nature reserve.
